Hi, and thank you for stopping by my new website!

I'm Liz Charest of Mirabeau Himalayans & Persians, which is a small cattery located in Sutton, Massachusetts, south of Worcester. My husband Jim and I share our home - and our love of animals - with his two sons, Jason and Adam.

My love of the persian breed started early on after buying my first cat, a black persian male named Asti Spumante. My sister bought his half brother Panda, and they were our children...we would bring them back and forth to each of our homes and let them play together. Later, a red tabby persian male, Punkin would steal my heart and he and Asti had many wonderful years together. Lily, who is a blue-cream persian female also joined them and what fun they all had! In 2003, after Punkin died from cancer and went over the Rainbow Bridge, I began looking for a new kitten to love. It was then that I decided breeding these wonderful cats would be my new passion. After attending cat shows, reading and learning everything I could by talking to other breeders, I started my own cattery.

I am fortunate to be working with the award winning lines of D'Purr, Celebrities, Le Chat Paws, Old Castle, Radzacatz, and Snowpalace. Some of the most famous, outstanding cats are behind all their lines, please look at the pedigrees. Many thanks to Dee, Sherri, Marie, Lynn, Ellie, Amber and Cheryl for sharing their knowledge, experience and friendship with me, and for entrusting me with these gorgeous cats. Many thanks to Kathy Durdick, Ristokat Himalayans for designing my web site!

I'm also excited to begin a small exotic breeding program, and owe much gratitude to Sheri Phillips of Celebrities' Cattery and Marie Tabsch of Le Chat Paws. Short haired exotics have the sweet, loving personality of the persian but with the easy care, "teddy bear" coat.

I am dedicated to raising my cats for health foremost and for the sweet personality that makes this breed the most popular in the world. Showing my cats in The Cat Fanciers Association (CFA) and The International Cat Association (TICA) is a very important part of being a responsible breeder. Showing allows a breeder to strive for the breed specific qualities that make that breed look true to type and tracking their pedigrees in these organizations is very important for the continuation and history of the breed. I am also a member of the Atlantic Himalayan Club, dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the himalayan breed.

My cats are lovingly raised with our two standard poodle dogs, two parakeets, and lots of handling! The kitties romp and play throughout our home - I believe in giving my cats a lap-cat lifestyle, with minimal caging when needed. My cats are well socialized and happy to purr for anyone who'll listen.

Although I'm striving for show quality cats, pet kitties will be available to pre-screened, loving homes. Please don't get upset if I ask a lot of questions - these are my babies! All pet kittens will be spayed/neutered before they leave my home. All my kitties come with a contract and a lifetime commitment from me to help them live happy, healthy, pampered lives. I'll be happy to help with grooming tips, food recommendations and tips on how to spoil them rotten! Mirabeau Cattery is now doing genetic PKD testing (results to come soon) and FeLV negative.

Please e-mail me if you are interested in kittens. From time to time we also have adults who retire into loving pet homes. If you have any kitty questions, email me! I always enjoy hearing from other cat people. Please take time to sign my guestbook.
